19 Famous Celebrities That Are Vegan (2024): Find Out Who

Throughout history, various cultures have abstained from meat and animal products for religious, health, and ethical reasons.

For example, Dr. Campbell’s famous China Study revealed how the traditional Chinese diet (which all but excludes meat) resulted in a drastically healthier population when compared to Western nations that consumed meat on a daily basis.

It’s no secret that a plant-based diet is far healthier than a meat-based diet. Overconsumption of meat has been linked to high blood pressure, increased risk for heart attacks and stroke, gout, arthritis, and even cancer.

When I first went vegan, I learned that many of the celebrities, athletes, artists and influencers I looked up to were vegan as well!

Whether you’re looking for motivation, validation, or you’re just curious, I’m about to show you 19 of the most famous celebrities that are vegan. You may recognize some thanks to their outspoken position on vegans, while others may come as a complete surprise.

Read on to find out why these famous influencers, athletes, and celebrities went vegan!

Is Beyonce Vegan?

A little longer than a year ago, Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z made vegan headlines for their 22-day vegan challenge. While most people wouldn’t bat an eye at a short challenge, this was a big move for two of the world’s highest-profile superstars.

Why did they do it?

Well, according to Peta, the couple went vegan in an effort to shed pounds and get in better shape. They opted for a 22-day challenge, as most of the evidence points to the fact that it takes at least 21 days to break old habits and adopt new habits.

You can watch more here:

During interviews, both of them said that the challenge helped them make a positive shift in their life and that it just “felt right.”

That being said, Beyonce and Jay-Z did not stick with their diet

The challenge opened up a new way of life for the pair and showed them the benefits of eating a mostly plant-based diet. However, they do consume meat periodically, so I wouldn’t consider them true vegans.

Is Kylie Jenner Vegan?

Kylie Jenner is one of the world’s youngest billionaires and arguably the most famous fashion influencer in the world. Her brand, Kylie Cosmetics, is an all-vegan makeup company that offers some of the highest-quality products on the market.

The young influencer herself is also vegan!

In 2017, Kylie publicly announced to her social media following that she was going to jump headfirst into the vegan lifestyle. Shortly thereafter, she revamped her entire brand to reflect her personal life change.

This is a huge (and important) shift. The more high-profile entrepreneurs that can bring awareness to animal rights, the more the rest of the market will shift.

This is evident as more and more famous cosmetic brands are following suit and switching to plant-based, cruelty-free products.

19 Famous Vegan Celebrities You Should Be Following

Even if you don’t keep up with the everyday lives of famous people, I’ve always been a proponent of following and showing support for vegan influencers and celebrities.

By supporting them, you’re letting the world know that going vegan is the right choice.

It may sound a bit superficial, but these people have huge platforms. By following them, you’re helping to expand their platform and allow them to do more good and popularize the plant-based lifestyle.

1) Ariana Grande

Occupation: Singer, songwriter

Ariana Grande is a best-selling artist and an incredibly talented singer. She’s long been an advocate of the vegan diet and lifestyle.

When asked about why she went vegan, she wholeheartedly told the world, “If I’m being honest, I love animals more than I love most people.”

Now THAT is a statement I can agree with! I can’t name a single pet I’ve ever had who brought the drama into my life that the people in my life have.

Ariana also went on to mention how she grew up eating a heavy Italian diet with lots of meat and cheese, claiming that she “Had more than enough meat and dairy to last a lifetime,” and that “plant-based living leads to a longer, happier life.”

Can’t argue with that, right?

She did mention that eating out with friends can be a bit difficult. So, to make life simpler, she mainly orders salads from restaurants and saves her more involved vegan meals for home.

2) Bill Clinton

Occupation: Former President of the United States

Bill Clinton is arguably one of the most sauve leaders that the U.S. has ever had. Sure he may have been involved in more than a couple of scandals, but he’s since developed a better reputation for himself.

He’s actually been vegan since 2010, making him one of the longest-standing vegan celebrities on this list.

Unlike the majority of vegans who change their diet for ethical reasons, Bill Clinton went vegan after having a close call with death. In early-2010, he was feeling unhealthier than ever and ended up having to undergo emergency heart surgery to save his life.

After that experience, he slowly phased meat and dairy out of his life. Now, he’s 100% vegan and claims that his plant-based diet has helped him lose lots of weight, improved his energy levels, and is the reason he still feels “young.”

Considering that he’s 75 years old, I’d be inclined to take his advice!

3) Jhene Aiko

Occupation: Singer, songwriter

Jhene Aiko is one of the purest souls in the entertainment industry. She’s an accomplished R&B singer who’s built quite a career for herself. She even performed at the most recent Superbowl Half-Time Show!

She claims that it took her a while to go fully vegan. She started off by dabbling with plant-based diets in her early career for health benefits.

As a mother and famous artist, life could get busy, hectic, and often left her feeling tired and drained.

She also mentioned how learning about animal rights and the evils of the modern meat industry is what convinced her to change her entire lifestyle, not just her diet. Now that she’s fully vegan, she says that she looks and feels better than ever.

4) Billie Eilish

Occupation: Singer, songwriter

In a recent interview, Billie Eilish (who won her first Grammy at 19 years old) claimed that she’s “Been vegan since she was 12 years old.”

When asked if she’s ever been tempted to revert back she claimed that it’s hard to go back to a lifestyle that she’s been following for half of her life, and that she hasn’t had a desire to eat meat in a very long time.

Learning about animal slaughterhouses and cosmetic testing is what first convinced her to go vegan, and she hasn’t forgotten. She’s also an outspoken vegan and has been a part of Peta campaigns in an effort to spread awareness and help others make the switch.

5) Stevie Wonder

Occupation: Singer, songwriter

Stevie Wonder’s vegan journey started six years ago in 2016. The now 71-year-old singer has racked up 25 Grammy awards during his lifelong career as a singer, songwriter, and musician.

He’s well known for being one of the most celebrated blind musicians of all time, and never let his disability dissuade him from pursuing his dreams.

He originally went vegan for health reasons. He was interviewed two years after making the switch and mentioned that plant-based eating has him feeling healthier and better than ever.

He went on to say that the vegan diet isn’t just good for the body but it’s better for the environment. Stevie Wonder is a strong proponent of creating more green, natural spaces, especially in urban areas. He wants all children to grow up and be able to experience nature.

Plant-based eating is more environmentally sustainable and is a great way to ensure that future generations can enjoy our beautiful planet.

Occupation: Formula One Race Car Driver

Lewis Hamilton is one of the most celebrated race car drivers in the world and has even been knighted by the Queen of England herself!

He’s 37 years old and is currently in the prime of his career. He’s still racing at lightning-fast speeds all around the world.

Formula One racing is all about reaction time and reflexes. Lewis said the main reason he went vegan was to improve his health and sharpen his reflexes. He also mentioned how he wanted to do his part to create a better planet and influence others to care about the environment.

He’s been an avid vegan since 2017 and even opened a vegan burger chain in the U.K. called Neat Burger!

Another fun fact is that he does his pet bulldog on a plant-meat diet as well. Although it may sound a bit strange to feed a carnivorous animal vegan food, Lewis claims that it improved his dog’s health conditions and made him more energetic and happier than ever.

She works alongside Peta and regularly donates to their organization and contributes to their animal rights campaigns.

She’s also vocal about her support for animals and the environment through her social media pages. At 54 years old, she looks like she’s still younger than 30, so I’d say the vegan diet definitely helped her age well!

Most people know Peter Dinklage for his role in Game of Thrones, where he played the lovable, good-hearted drunk, Tyrion Lannister. Although he got famous on TV, his real career started as a traditional theater performer.

Before long, many of his fellow teammates and players around the world were doing the same.

He used his platform to generate awareness and has done the world a favor.

During his career as an NFL player, Kaepernick sustained a number of injuries that began affecting his daily life after retirement. A few years ago, he and his girlfriend both went vegan in an effort to reduce inflammation and improve their overall health.

In an interview with late-night host Jimmy Falon, she dove deeper and mentioned how she likes to use social media to show people just how varied a vegan diet can be.

She often posts videos and pictures of her latest vegan creations to show her followers that following a vegan diet doesn’t have to be boring and tasteless.

Venus Williams is arguably the greatest female tennis player of all time. However, most people aren’t aware that she suffers from an autoimmune disease called Sjögren’s syndrome, which affects the body’s ability to produce saliva and tears.

When untreated, it can also lead to rheumatoid arthritis and other debilitating disorders.

The world-renowned athlete switched to a plant-based lifestyle in order to reduce inflammation and improve her overall health. She claims that the diet has helped her manage the autoimmune disease and helps her perform better in court.

When a world-class athlete tells you something’s working for them, it’s usually a good idea to listen!

Joaquin Phoenix is one of the most talented actors in Hollywood and is known for his award-winning roles in Her, The Joker, and others. In addition to acting, he’s also an accomplished director and producer.

His story of how he decided to go vegan is both inspirational and relatable.

It all started when he was a young child when their mother took him and his siblings for a walkout by the docks.

He saw how fishermen were brutally slamming live fish against the sides of their boats in an effort to daze them and keep them from flopping around.

He explained how this experience seemed unfair, cruel, and made him inherently distrustful of humans at an early age. He went on to say that all of his siblings also decided to not eat meat that day.

She spent most of her teens as a semi-vegetarian, only eating meat once in a while. Eventually, she decided that she wanted to pursue a 100% plant-based lifestyle and has been a vegan ever since.

Recently, she made entertainment headlines for her fully vegan wedding in 2019!
