But, interestingly (and unexpectedly), Melting Pot has a whole vegan menu. It’s short but guarantees that you have a complete vegan meal at this fondue restaurant.

It’s important to note that while Melting Pot may be best known for its four-course meal, the restaurant also offers a la carte option. This means if you’re not in the mood for a multi-course meal, you can also order your choice of vegan food separately from the Melting Pot vegan menu.

There is only one vegan-friendly appetizer on the Melting Pot menu. But, trust me when I say this, you won’t wish for any other option once you try the one they offer. 

The vegan appetizer available at Melting Pot is:

Melting Pot has a vegan-friendly cheese fondue! Isn’t it amazing? Being a big cheese lover, I can go to the restaurant time and again just for this. What could be more comforting than having a big bowl of hot, melted cheese in front of you and knowing you can indulge in it because it’s vegan?

Melting Pot’s Vegan Cheese Fondue is made using cheddar-style shreds, gluten-free Redbridge beer, garlic, vegetable bouillon, and a bunch of spices to make it more flavorful. The fondue comes with a variety of dippers, including vegetables, apples, and vegan-friendly bread varieties

As per the Melting Pot menu, you can also request gluten-free bread. The cheese fondue itself is gluten-free.

If you have ever ordered them, you will know that house salads aren’t an exciting option. It’s no different at Melting Pot. But, it certainly makes a healthier choice.

Featuring romaine and iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, and scallions, this simple salad is also gluten-free and low-calorie, along with being vegan-friendly. One serving of Melting Pot’s Vegan House Salad has only 91 to 165 calories, depending on what dressing you choose to have it with.

The restaurant offers two vegan-friendly salad dressing options to choose from:

  • The good ol’ classic Oil & Balsamic
  • The tangy, nutty Raspberry Walnut Vinaigrette

The second vegan (and dare I say boring) salad option on the Melting Pot menu is made with just two main ingredients – mixed greens and tomatoes.

Like the house salad, this one is also low-calorie and gluten-free and comes with your choice of dressing from Oil & Balsamic or Raspberry Walnut Vinaigrette.

If you’re having the Melting Pot’s famous four-course meal, this will make the third course. While it’s a little disappointing to see that the restaurant doesn’t offer any choices for vegans in the entrée category (there is only one option), you can choose how it’s cooked. Interesting, isn’t it?

The only vegan entrée option at Melting Pot is:

Rich, hearty, and comforting, this meatless entrée at Melting Pot is made with artichoke hearts, asparagus, mini sweet peppers, mushrooms, red onions, zucchini, veggie potstickers, and vegan polpettes (polpettes is Italian for meatball). 

The ingredients combination may vary slightly across various Melting Pot locations.

If you’re gluten-intolerant or avoiding it for general health purposes, you can have this Vegan Garden Pot made gluten-free.

As per the restaurant’s menu, it would have gluten-free substitutes for polpettes and potstickers. What would those be? We don’t know.

As mentioned earlier, Melting Pot allows you to choose the cooking style or technique for your main meal. There are four options:

  1. Vegan Bourguinonne – Cooked in classic French beef stew style in red wine
  2. Mojo – Caribbean-inspired cooking that features all the ingredients in a clear broth prepared with garlic, cilantro, and a citrusy element (could be lemon or vinegar)
  3. Court Bouillon – Vegetables (and other ingredients) poached in a seasoned broth
  4. Cast Iron Grill – Tabletop grilling

Just like the appetizer and entrée, there is only one vegan dessert option at Melting Pot. But, hey, you at least have one; many restaurants do not offer even that.

Moreover, the vegan dessert that Melting Pot offers is a whole spread on its own. It is the ever-popular chocolate fondue made vegan-friendly.

The vegan menu given on Melting Pot’s website doesn’t include any drinks options. But, if you go through the restaurant’s extensive standard beverages menu (which primarily includes alcoholic drinks), you would see quite a few vegan-friendly options listed there.

The restaurant doesn’t specify what brand of vegan cheese it uses or what it is made of on the menu or website. But, according to PETA, the restaurant uses Daiya’s Cheddar Style Shreds to make vegan cheese fondue.

  • What are vegan polpettes at Melting Pot?

For those who may not know, polpettes is Italian for meatballs. Melting Pot offers a meatless version of them for plant-eaters. But, the restaurant’s menu doesn’t highlight what they are made of (vegetables, lentils, chickpeas, or vegan meat?)

Conclusion – Is Melting Pot Vegan-Friendly?

Melting Pot may not be generally considered a highly vegan-friendly restaurant due to its significantly small vegan menu. But, I believe it’s a good place for vegan diners. 

The restaurant may have limited choices, but it allows you to have a complete vegan meal experience, which, those who have been vegan for any length of time know, is a rare opportunity. Moreover, the fondues that Melting Pot offers do not typically come vegan. This alone is enough reason to dine there.

I would recommend every vegan to visit this restaurant at least once, for Melting Pot vegan fondues, if not for anything else.
