Important

Before we dig further deep into the Yard House vegan menu, it’s important to note that while the restaurant offers a variety of vegan-friendly food items, it does not guarantee a “vegan environment” (or even vegetarian, for that matter). Here’s what they say on the website:

Vegan Friendly
Vegetarian

Yard House’s allergen guide also highlights the use of shared fryers for many food items that are otherwise plant-based [they use vegetable (canola) oil for frying, though].

This makes eating vegan at Yard House difficult for those who strictly avoid cross-contaminated foods. Even if you avoid the items cooked in shared fryers, there’s always a risk of cross-contact as the restaurant also uses shared prep areas and cooking equipment.

Yard House Vegan Options – A Detailed Guide

For those who do not mind eating plant-based foods cooked in shared equipment, here’s a detailed breakdown of vegan options at Yard House. Read on to develop a better understanding of how you should go about ordering vegan at Yard House.

Yard House Vegan Appetizers

Whether you want to enjoy a full meal while watching the big game with your friends or want a little snack with your drink, you can choose from the following vegan appetizer options at Yard House:

House Salad

House Salad

Let’s start with the least exciting item on the menu. Like all other places, the House Salad at Yard House is made with mixed green, carrots, tomatoes, cheese, croutons, and balsamic vinaigrette. Simply, skip the cheese and croutons to make this healthy Yard House appetizer vegan.

Edamame

Edamame

If you love soybeans, you gotta love edamame too. Popular in East-Asian cuisines, these are enjoyed as appetizer, snack, or side. Edamame is low in calories, but packed with nutrients. It also tastes good.

Whether you like edamame or want to give it a try, Yard House has two options for you, and both are vegan-friendly:

  • Steamed Edamame – the classic variety, these are just plain steamed edamame sprinkled with salt
  • Hot & Spicy Edamame – Stir-fried with chili and garlic

Since we talked about calories, it’s important to mention that I was referring to steamed edamame. Yard House’s stir-fried variety is not a low-calorie option.

Chips & Guacamole

Chips & Guacamole

If you’re like most Americans, you would expect sports bars to have chips and guac on the menu (how can they not have it? It’s one of the most popular super bowl snacks). Yard House doesn’t disappoint!

The sports bar chain offers freshly-cooked corn chips with delicious guacamole, made with avocadoes (of course), red onions, serrano pepper, cilantro, and lime. It’s rich, creamy, spicy, tangy, and hits all the right notes.

While there is no animal-derived ingredient in the guacamole, it is topped with feta cheese before serving. So, when eating vegan at Yard House, make sure to order chips & guac without feta.

It’s easy to be made vegan, but here is one bummer for some vegans.

The chips are cooked in shared fryers.

Whether you want to eat this Yard House appetizer or not, the decision is yours.

Chips & Pico

Chips & Pico

Guac lovers may find it hard to believe, but some people don’t like the creamy avocado dip. If you happen to be one of them, it’s worth knowing that Yard House also offers tortilla chips with pico.

Both the items are made fresh in-house, taste great, and the restaurant categorizes this appetizer as vegan-friendly. But, the shared fryer concern is there.

Sweet Potato Fries

Sweet Potato Fries

Sweet Potato Fries are labeled vegetarian on Yard House’s menu.

However, according to the restaurant, vegans can also enjoy this delicious item (i.e. those who are fine with eating food cooked in shared equipment/oil) simply by skipping the maple bacon cream dip it comes with.

Truffle Fries

Truffle Fries

These are regular French fries, which are taken to another level of deliciousness with white truffle oil, herbs, and parmesan cheese. When eating vegan at Yard House, just order it without parmesan, and you have the perfect vegan appetizer, side, or snack (whatever you call it) to devour.

Crispy Brussels Sprouts & Potatoes

Crispy Brussels Sprouts & Potatoes

Before we discuss the vegan status of this Yard House dish, it’s important to note that while it appears on the restaurant’s official vegan guide, I couldn’t find it on the most updated menu and allergen guide available online.

This could mean two things. The restaurant has either discontinued this item or it’s only available at select locations.

While I feel it’s the former reason, it’s better to confirm at your local Yard House.

If you happen to find it, just get it without Malt Vinegar Aioli because that it not vegan.

The Brussels sprouts and potatoes are cooked in shared fryers, if that concerns you.

Crispy Flatbread/Baked Pita with Hummus

Crispy Flatbread/Baked Pita with Hummus

The rich, creamy hummus is not just delicious; it is also always vegan, which is why I love it.  At Yard House, you can enjoy this great tasting vegan dip with crispy flatbread or baked pita.

Both are free of animal-ingredients, but the flatbread is cooked in shared fryer. There is no such concern about baked pita; it’s vegan-friendly in every sense of the word.

Tip: If you’re a health geek or gluten-intolerant, get hummus with vegetables (from the sides menu).

Avocado Toast

Avocado Toast

Marked vegetarian on Yard House’s menu, this comes standard with crushed avocadoes, whipped feta, arugula, red onions, and baby tomatoes on toasted artisan bread. To make it vegan, simply skip the whipped feta.

Yard House’s allergen menu doesn’t have artisan bread listed on it, but it seems to vegan-friendly because the restaurant’s vegan guide doesn’t ask to swap it.

Buffalo Cauliflower

Buffalo Cauliflower

Just like Crispy Brussel Sprouts and Potatoes, I couldn’t find this item on Yard House’s menu and allergen guide online. However, it’s mentioned in their vegan guide as well as on almost all other online sources that talk about vegan food options at Yard House.

If you see it on your local Yard House’s menu, know that it is free of animal-ingredients. However, as with all other fried items, it’s cooked in shared fryers.

Gardein Wings

Gardein Wings

Here comes the exciting part. Yard House has meatless wings!

The restaurant partners with Gardein, a leading brand that makes plant-based substitutes for different types of meats and classic meat products, to bring some delicious meatless wings for its vegan and vegetarian consumers.

Your vegan wings options at Yard House, made with Gardein’s plant-based meat, include:

  • Gardein Lemon Pepper Wings
  • Gardein Whiskey Black Pepper Wings

Note

There are three more varieties of Gardein wings available at Yard House – Buffalo wings, BBQ wings, and Korean Chili Garlic wings. But, the restaurant’s allergen menu highlights that they all contain egg and/or dairy. Here’s where things get a little confusing.

According to Yard House’s vegan guide, Gardein Buffalo Wings are vegan-friendly if ordered without the ranch dressing. But, it lists Gardein Whiskey Black Pepper Wings as vegetarian.

The allergen doesn’t highlight any non-vegan ingredient in Whiskey Wings, so I am not sure what makes it vegetarian-friendly, but (perhaps) not suitable for vegans.

It’s all very confusing, so your best bet is to confirm with your server at the time of ordering.

Gardein BBQ and Korean Chili Garlic wings at Yard House are clearly non-vegan, though. Moreover, all the meatless wings are cooked in shared fryers.

Lastly, yard House’ vegan guide also lists Gardein Ancho BBQ Wings, which, it states, can be ordered vegan just by skipping the ranch dressing. But, it’s on the menu or allergen guide. Ask at your local Yard House to confirm if they offer it.

Don’t feel comfortable eating meatless wings at Yard House because of all the confusing information, but really craving them? Make your own at home. Check out the following video for a great vegan wings recipe:

Yard House Vegan Entrées

Vegan entrée options at Yard House include:

Entrée Salads

Entrée Salads

Yard House offers a few different entrée salad varieties. While technically, you can get all of them customized, not all are worth the effort. Here are the options that (I feel) some may want to make that little extra effort for:

  • Cobb Salad

It comes standard with mixed greens, carrots, edamame, baby tomatoes, corn, avocado, egg, bacon, bleu cheese, ranch dressing, and your choice of protein (chicken, salmon, or shrimp).

Skip the cheese, egg, bacon, and protein, and have the ranch swapped with a plant-based dressing to make this salad vegan.

  • Kale & Romaine Salad

This appears as Kale & Romaine Caesar Salad on Yard House’s menu and is made with kale, romaine lettuce, roasted Brussels sprouts, baby tomatoes, golden raisins, pistachios, parmesan, and your choice of protein.

While the menu doesn’t list it, I am sure it comes with Caesar dressing (because duh! It’s Caesar salad), which, we all know, is not vegan.

So, to make this Kale and Romaine Salad vegan, get it without the meat add on parmesan, and dressing. Order a vegan-friendly dressing instead.

Note

Yard House’s vegan guide also includes Gardein BBQ Chicken Salad and Red Quinoa Salad, both of which can be made vegan with one or two little modifications.

Many other reliable online vegan sources also mention them. However, just like a couple of other items discussed earlier, these aren’t listed on the latest menu and allergen guide of Yard House available online.

If you, by any chance, find these entrée salads at your local Yard House, here’s how you can order them vegan style:

  • Gardein BBQ Chicken Salad – Hold the cheese and chipotle ranch dressing
  • Red Quinoa Salad – Get it without feta

Gardein Orange Chicken

Gardein Orange Chicken

This delicious slightly sweet and tangy entrée is listed “vegan as is” on Yard House’s vegan guide. However, it’s important to remember that the Gardein chicken it uses is cooked in shared fryer.

If it is against your vegan principles, skip it (and all other fried items on Yard House). But, if the user of shared cooking equipment and oil doesn’t bother you, get yourself this yummy dish made with plant-based meat.

In addition to Gardein chicken, the dish includes baby corn and bock choy. The ingredients are stir-fried in orange glaze and the dish is served with jasmine rice, which according to Yard House’s allergen guide contain butter.

Ask your server if they can omit butter from rice. If not, you’ll have to skip them. You may get some salad on the side, instead.

Gardein Chicken & Avocado Sandwich

Gardein Chicken & Avocado Sandwich

This meatless Yard House sandwich comes standard as vegetarian-friendly. To have it made vegan, order it without cheese and mayo. You’ll get a vegan sandwich with Gardein chicken sandwich, arugula, roasted tomatoes, avocado, and lemon basil aioli.

Important: According to Yard House’s menu, this sandwich comes in a brioche bun, which is typically non-vegan. But, the restaurant’s vegan guide doesn’t mention that you have to get the bun replaced to make this sandwich vegan.

Despite that, I would recommend confirming its vegan status with your server while ordering.

Also, note that the Gardein chicken is grilled on shared pan.

Beyond Burger

Beyond Burger

Yard House has a Beyond Burger, which is great. But, is it vegan or vegetarian? It’s not clear; the information available online is a bit conflicting.

Yard House’s vegan guide lists the Beyond Burger “vegan as is”. But, according to the restaurant’s allergen menu, it has eggs and dairy. On Yard House’s standard menu, it’s marked as vegetarian.

Confused? I am too!

Your best bet is to ask the server at the time of ordering. I am sure there must be a way you can order it vegan (if it’s not already).

Despite the fact that the vegan status of Yard House Beyond Burger is not clear, what got me excited is that it contains vegan mozzarella cheese (brownie points to Yard House for having vegan cheese).

Its other components include tomato, onion, arugula, avocado, and pickles (sounds like a great combination of ingredients).

Yard House’s meatless burger is served with side salad th comes without croutons according to theto restaurant’s vegan guins.

They are labelled as vegetarian on the restaurant’s menu, though.
